Hagl / hail is Maiken Stenes most recent total-installation, at Stavanger Historical Museum. The installation will be on view for a couple of years, so plenty of time to see and experience it.
Hagl is the first room in the wide spanning group exhibition “MittStavanger”; a show that combines contemporary artistic narratives with linear historical story telling. It consists of a series of unique custom built time capsules that tell the story of the city of Stavangers history and development.
The installation HAGL incorporates a number of historical objects from the museums collection. It consists of a theatrical build up of a cut-out forest, painted with black indian ink on paper, strengthened by a web of wooden sticks. The walls are tapestried by a large painting made in black and red acrylic on textile.
The historical objects in the installation, are the Årdal Crusifix in a display case, a skeleton in a display case, a stone head mounted on the wall and a baptismal font on the ground.
The artwork was installed by Hipkiss & Stene.
Music/soundwork by Nils Henrik Asheim.
